Have your child stand with one foot on the paper wearing the socks they will be wearing with their school shoes. Trace closely around the foot with a pencil held perpendicular to the ground. Draw straight lines at end and side of the foot tracing, making four lines that indicate the widest width and longest length of the foot. Next, measure the length of the foot in inches as accurately as possible. Subtract 3/16 of an inch for the space between the pencil and the foot. The formula for a child’s UK shoe size is to multiply the length in inches times three and then subtract twelve.
