Do You Think the Majority of Wedding Shoes Are Ugly, Seen Any Nice Ones?

I am looking for wedding shoes but the majority seem funny shapes or what I would consider to be an old lady shoe.

Obviously there are exceptions but do they follow some sort of tradition that makes them in this style? Perhaps they are designed with comfort in mind which is fair enough but so are other shoes but they look nice. And they are so expensive!

Hmm rant over.

Any suggestions? I need white ones :D

honey, you can wear ANY shoes you want. they dont have to be specifically for weddings, they dont have to be white, they dont have to have a heel, they dont have to be a certain style.

just pick something you are comfortable going down the aisle in and that shows a little bit of your personality and roll with it. stop looking for "wedding" shoes, and you will find your options expanding by thousands

I loved my wedding shoes and the great thing is – they are able to be dyed!! So keep that in mind, if you find ones that aren’t the exact colour, ask if the material is able to be dyed!

Mine were very elegant and went with the dress, it really is about personal taste though as there are some that can look "old" or have to much detail, go with what you’re happy with and what you think describes your style.

I don’t think they’re ugly, but I have never seen any that I like. I would just suggest for you to stop looking at anything marketed under "bridal". You ARE allowed to buy wedding shoes/dresses/anything at a non bridal store ;)

I’m really short but I can’t walk very good in heels, so I really want sparkly white flats with a bow on them, and I can’t find them anywhere!

Make your own! Really, this is so easy. One Bride I know had on knockout pumps-I mean stunning. I was thinking they had to be $500 , then she said she made them! She got a plain white pair of pumps that were comfortable, some glue that dries clear and some lace that wasn’t the same as her gown, but you had to look closely to see. Then she glued the lace in a sort of rounded triangle shape with the large edge at the top of the opening. She also had a bit of the design on the back. Try it! What have you got to loose? You have time and could (if you want) practice on an old pair first. Truly one of a kind and much more meaningful.

I understand what you are coming from. I put myself on a budget to get a shoe that I would love. And I set my budget for $75. I ended up finding some at Famous Footwear for $35.00 and it was a buy one get one half off sale so I brought the flower girls shoes also. And my shoe was half off so it was a good deal. Below is a link of the shoe I got for myself and some other nice shoes. Good luck and congrats!

I know what you mean!! I had a shoe dilema too. This is the best website I found but it depends on where you live too. http://www.suna.com.au

Just keep your eyes open. If you can’t find white, I would settle for silver.. Or you could look at dying shoes the colour you want.

In the end I just decided to wear the shoes I got for free with my wedding dress. Even though they were the complete opposite style to what I originally wanted. :)

If you’re set on white, you’re probably going to pay a premium for style and comfort. The only people who wear white shoes are brides, and it’s been established that anything associated with brides and weddings get their prices jacked up.

I recommend blue tux shoes. My maid of honor wore some of their silver sandals of theirs and they were remarkably comfortable. I think you can find them online through various bridal boutiques.

I went with simple white satin ballet flats that I got on eBay for about $20 – nothing fancy or especially pretty, but they weren’t ugly & they were nice and comfortable since I was on my feet sooo much of that day.

Davids Bridal has GORGOUS shoes. I had an outdoor wedding so I wore wedges, called willow. LOVED them!
